GTA V takes the glory in VGX’s GOTY awards

At the VGX awards, the battle between some of 2013’s biggest titles ended with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V branded as the winner of the most anticipated award at the event, the Game of the Year award. Rockstar representatives accepted the award, which was presented on stage by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The nominees for the award were BioShock Infinite, Grand Theft Auto V, Super Mario 3D World, The Last of Us, and Tomb Raider.

The GTA franchise has scooped up VGX’s Game of the Year award 3 times in total now, the previous winners being GTA IV and GTA: San Andreas.

Expectations were high for GTAV to take the crown, with the other forerunner pegged for the title being Naughty Dog’s story-driven The Last of Us. Naughty Dog did, however, take the Studio of the Year award
